On the basis of the Lower Saxony Equal Opportunities Act (NGG) Yvonne Krieg was elected as equal opportunity commissioner and Leonie Dreißigacker as her deputy.

The Equal Opportunity commissioner is particularly concerned with promoting and enforcing equal rights and gender equality, as well as promoting the reconciliation of work and family life. She is involved in personnel decisions and issues relating to the strategic orientation of the institute.
