New research report “Offender organization and criminal investigations with regard to organised residential burglary”

The research report of the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony e.V. (KFN) concerning organized residential burglary is now available in English. The project is co-financed with resources from the Internal Security Fund of the European Union. Europol is the consulting partner of the project. The report presents results of the first part of the study in which 25 expert interviews were led with police and public prosecutors in Germany and six further interviews with police in Albania, Croatia, Lithuania, Austria, Moldavia and Romania. The aim was to gain knowledge about offender profiles, and difficulties concerning legal prosecution, especially in international cooperation. The second part of the study comprises an analysis of criminal files that were reported to the Federal Criminal Police of Office (BKA) as cases of organized crime with regard to residential burglary. The results will be available in Spring 2019.
