On 15 February 2017, a new research project on the subject of radicalization in the digital age began at KFN. The goal of the collaborative project, conducted by KFN, is to examine the risks and course of radicalization processes with a view to the cross-cutting of ideas and with particular regard to the importance of the Internet. On the basis of these findings, different prevention approaches and recommendations for action are to be drawn up that relate to development-related radicalization processes and take particular account of the potential threat potentials of the Internet as a central propagating medium of extremist ideologies. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding the project under the “Research for Civil Security 2012 – 2017” program.
